**LOUISVILLE, Ky.** – Racing Louisville came back from a one-goal deficit to draw, 1-1, with Angel City FC in front of a record crowd of over 10,000 fans at Lynn Family Stadium on Saturday night. The point leaves Louisville in 7 ^th with 20 points from 16 games, while Angel City is in 10 ^th with 18 points from 16 games played.
The visitors Angel City began attacking early on with defender Ali Riley causing a bit of havoc in the box in the 12 ^th minute. Angel City was moving forward through forward Alyssa Thompson when the ball was eventually worked out wide to Riley. On the left side of the box, Riley then drove a low ball toward the near post that a cluster of bodies aimed to meet, but ultimately Louisville goalkeeper Katie Lund was able to push the ball away.
Four minutes later, Angel City was again ahead with Thompson on the ball as the away side threatened to score a second time. Thompson was on the ball deep in the Louisville box when she squared a pass for teammate Savannah McCaskill near the left edge of the six-yard box. Taking aim at the near post, McCaskill opened her foot and swept an effort that forced Lund into another good save as she repelled it for a corner.
After chances for Thompson and defender Jasmyne Spencer the rest of the way through the first half, Louisville got its first opportunity of the night through midfielder Paige Monaghan just before the halftime break. The hosts were ahead on the right side of the field as a cross into the box via Louisville’s Lauren Milliet picked out Monaghan in the center of the box. Monaghan then redirected the ball in toward the bottom far corner, but an excellent save from Angel City goalkeeper DiDi Haracic saw the ball tipped away and eventually off the post as the home side nearly found breakthrough before the break.
Into the second half, the goals didn’t come until the 67 ^th minute as Angel City opened the scoring through forward Katie Johnson. The teams had traded chances earlier in the half, but a really well worked move from Angel City is what allowed Johnson to smash home her chance in the box. Angel City had moved from the left side to the middle as McCaskill received a pass from out wide before poking another pass toward Johnson in a central position. Johnson then did not hesitate as she rocketed a shot into the top right corner and in to go up a goal.
However, in the 79 ^th minute, Louisville found a big equalizer through their forward Kirsten Davis as she headed home a cross to give a record crowd something to cheer about. Midfielder Maddie Pokorny chased a pass out to the left that saw her in space for the hosts when she picked her head up and saw Davis in the middle. Whipping a cross with her right foot, Davis was first to the ball and powered a strong effort past Haracic to bring her side level again.
Over the course of the final 10 minutes plus stoppage time, though, neither side was able to produce a quality enough opportunity to test the opposition, leaving Johnson’s goal to be cancelled out by Davis as the sides settled for a 1-1 draw.
