WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Spirit and Orlando played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Audi Field.

With top of the table implications on the line, both sides looked eager to get a goal in the early stages. The first half would bring the best out of both keepers as Ashlyn Harris would deny the Spirit a few wonderful scoring opportunities, including a huge diving effort in the 26th minute. Aubrey Bledsoe would do the same on the other end, halting an Alex Morgan attempt moments later. The sides would take the scoreless score line into halftime. The second half would be a different story, however, with both teams scoring within moments of each other. Washington, with a few pressing attacks, were able to swing the ball out wide to Kelley O’Hara, who whipped a right-footed ball into the path of Ashley Hatch for the opener. It would be Hatch’s third goal of the season, making her the team’s leading scorer at the moment. Three minutes later, Orlando would level the affair as Bledsoe attempted to throw the ball out after a save. The ball would fall to Marta, who one-touched it to Taylor Kornieck, and the Kornieck expertly finished into the bottom left corner to level things at 1-1. Both sides pushed for the three points, but ultimately would both walk away with a share of the spoils. The Spirit will return from the international break and travel to SeatGeek Stadium on June 19th to take on the Chicago Red Stars at 8:00pm ET on Twitch. Orlando will return to NWSL action on the 20th of June as they host NJ/NY Gotham FC at Exploria Stadium at 6:00pm ET. Streaming will be available on Paramount +.
