The North Carolina Courage (1-1-1, four points) earned an emphatic 5-0 victory on Friday night against Racing Louisville FC (1-1-1, four points) at WakeMed Soccer Park. North Carolina started the match on the front foot and would be rewarded for their efforts. In the seventh minute, Abby Erceg would head in a looping corner kick from Carson Pickett to give the hosts the lead. That goal would snap Racing Louisville’s streak of 281 minutes without letting in a goal. The match slowed down following the goal, with both teams being methodical in their respective attacks. North Carolina finished the half with a lead in all offensive statistics, as well as a 1-0 score line. As the rain started to come down again in Cary, the visitors made the first change - bringing on Emina Ekic and Nealy Martin in the 54th minute. The Courage would get a second goal, however, with Lynn Williams slotting home her first regular season goal of 2021 in the 63 rd minute. North Carolina would continue to pour on the pressure, with Debinha knocking in the Courage’s third off a header from Jess McDonald in the 68 th minute. Hailie Mace would add to the score line, netting a screamer from outside the box only four minutes after entering the match. Mace would get her brace in the 90 th minute to finish the scoring for both sides. Next, the Courage head on the road to face the Chicago Red Stars on June 5 th at 2pm ET on Paramount+.
