Goalkeeper Michelle Betos has signed with Seattle Reign FC, the team announced Tuesday. The deal is pending receipt of her International Transfer Certificate.Betos appeared in seven games for the Reign in 2013 before joining Portland Thorns FC from 2014-2016. She won the 2015 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year award during her time with the Thorns. She spent 2016 in Norway with Vålerenga Fotball Damer. “The packed schedule and international calendar meant that we need a pair of experienced keepers to see us through the season,” Seattle head coach Vlatko Andonovski said in the Reign’s announcement. “Michelle’s experience in the league and abroad – as well as her familiarity with the club – made her the perfect fit. Plus, as I witnessed first-hand, she may even be good for a goal or two this season.” Betos is the only goalkeeper in NWSL history to score in a match — a late game-tying goal in stoppage time against Andonovski’s FC Kansas City in 2015. With the Thorns down 1-0 and down a player, Betos headed home a corner kick in the 95th minute. [Empty Body]
