Orlando, Florida – A late Paige Monaghan strike saw NY/NJ Gotham FC take all three points against Orlando Pride at Exploria Stadium Wednesday night.

The game was a back and forth affair until the 12th minute when NY/NJ was awarded penalty. Nahomi Kawasumi was denied by Ashlyn Harris to keep the game deadlocked heading into the break. The second half provided more must-see action. There were chances on both sides before a great buildup saw Elizabeth Eddy play the ball wide for Ifeoma Onumonu and the forward served it to the back post where Monaghan was there to apply the finish. Orlando fell to 0-1-1 for the Challenge Cup presented by Secret Deodorant, while Sky Blue improves to 1-0-0. NJ/NY Gotham FC will return to action on Tuesday, April 20th as they return home to take on the North Carolina Courage (1-0-0) on Paramount +. Orlando will follow on April 21st when they host Washington Spirit (0-0-1). That game is also on Paramount +.
