Montclair, New Jersey – NJ/NY Gotham FC (2-0-2, eight points) clinched a place in the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup Championship, moving to the top of the East with a 0-0 draw against visiting Racing Louisiville FC (0-2-2, two points) at MSU Soccer Park. Gotham joins Portland Thorns FC and the Houston Dash as the only other undefeated teams in this iteration of the tournament.

The first half was a tense affair, with both sides getting a decent share of possession. The home side would see the most opportunities, peppering Michelle Betos with seven shots – none of them troubling the veteran goalkeeper. The second half began with the return of Allie Long to New Jersey. The Long Island native, who played for Sky Blue FC in WPS in 2011, made her first appearance for the franchise since being traded from OL Reign last week. While the visitors ramped up the pressure, the best chance of the second half was created by Caprice Dydasco, but the Betos was once again up to the task. NJ/NY Gotham FC now turn their attention to next weekend’s Challenge Cup Championship against the Portland Thorns. The final will be played on Saturday, May 8th, at 1pm E.T. – and broadcast on CBS. Racing Louisville FC will begin their first regular season in the league on Saturday, May 15th, as they host Kansas City at Lynn Family Stadium.
