Community Partner: Kids’ Meals Houston
Abby Smith has worked tirelessly to expand access to the sport and foster safe and inclusive spaces for the next generation to express themselves through physical activity and cultivate healthy habits. Now with the Houston Dash, Smith brings her passion for community service to her home state, aiming to inspire and uplift local youth through her ongoing outreach efforts at Kids’ Meals Houston. Her commitment to community engagement is well documented and this is the second time the goalkeeper has been nominated for the Lauren Holiday Impact Award. She led an initiative last year to empower young girls through sports and mentorship. In 2025, her efforts will focus on ending childhood hunger by delivering free, healthy meals directly to the homes of the city's hungriest preschool-aged children. Operating year-round, Kids’ Meals serves more than 45,000 meals each week across 50 Greater Houston-area zip codes, relying on hundreds of volunteers to prepare and pack lunches that include a sandwich, snack, fruit, and drink. Their efforts extend beyond their nutrition program by offering programs that touch on education, sports and holistic wellness.
