Nominee: Hannah Betfort

Community Partner: WakeEd

Proud to call the Triangle home and committed to increasing access to education through the game, Hannah Betfort’s passion for soccer is matched by her commitment to the community she’s been a part of since her college years. As a forward for the North Carolina Courage and a Wake Forest grad, she views sport as a powerful equalizer - a way to inspire and educate the next generation. Having attended Wake Forest through opportunities only soccer could provide, she’s determined to help others find similar paths merging soccer and education.

Hannah has partnered with WakeEd, a local nonprofit dedicated to strengthening public education across Wake County, to launch an innovative PE takeover program. Through this initiative, she brings soccer-based programming into local schools, combining soccer with hands-on STEM learning. The program uses the game she loves to make math and science approachable and engaging.

By showing up in schools not just as a pro athlete, but as a leader with a deep connection to this community, this partnership reflects her belief that education and sport should be accessible to all. Hannah’s impact, rooted in both personal experience and a desire to give back, makes her an ideal representative of the Lauren Holiday Impact Award."
