Community Partner: The Athlete Academy Foundation
Kyra Carusa’s community work is deeply rooted in her love for San Diego—the city where she was born, raised, and shaped not just as a student and athlete, but most importantly, as a person. Grateful for the local programs that helped pave her path to Stanford and Georgetown, Kyra is now committed to pouring back into the very neighborhoods that built her. She regularly visits her former schools and local youth programs to share her journey and remind students that their dreams are valid and possible.
Her passion for youth soccer extends far beyond competition. Through partnerships with local academies and the College Soccer Development Academy, Kyra helps run free clinics for young children—ensuring that financial limitations never block a child’s chance to fall in love with the game.
In February, she partnered with The Athlete Academy Foundation to organize a massive gear donation to the girls’ soccer team at Hoover High School and other female athletes—filling over 13 tables with San Diego Wave apparel and equipment. The gesture offered more than just supplies; it brought dignity, pride, and encouragement to young women who often go without.
Kyra leads with heart and humility. Her work is not performative—it’s personal. And it’s making a lasting difference where it matters most: home.
