Twenty-three players will be selected from this roster for their Women’s World Cup preparation in Spain later this month.[Empty Body] * * * Canada has called in 22 players for their official send-off match on May 18 vs. Mexico in Toronto. The roster was announced on Thursday. The final 23-woman roster for Canada’s trip to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be confirmed sometime after the game on May 18, Canada Soccer said. Ten NWSL players are on the roster for the match: Christine Sinclair (Portland Thorns FC), Stephanie Labbé (North Carolina Courage), Allysha Chapman (Houston Dash), Shelina Zadorsky (Orlando Pride), Diana Matheson (Utah Royals FC), Desiree Scott (Utah Royals FC), Sophie Schmidt (Houston Dash), Nichelle Prince (Houston Dash), Kailen Sheridan (Sky Blue FC) and Lindsay Agnew (Houston Dash). Sinclair, who has scored 180 career goals, is just four goals away from tying Abby Wambach’s record of 184 international goals, the most for either a woman or man in international soccer. She has 16 career goals and four multi-goal games vs. Mexico in her career. [Empty Body] * * * On Friday, the Chicago Red Stars announced that forward Alyssa Mautz will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in her right knee. The club said she suffered the injury in training on Tuesday. Mautz has played for the Red Stars for all seven NWSL seasons, and was part of their WPSL-Elite team in 2012. She has 16 NWSL goals in 119 regular season appearances. * * * The Houston Dash announced on Friday that forward Veronica Latsko will miss the rest of the season with a left knee injury. The injury was suffered in training earlier this week, the club said. This season is Latsko’s second in the NWSL, after scoring four goals and two assists in her rookie season last year. * * * On Thursday, Portland Thorns FC announced several roster moves. First, they’ve signed forward Simone Charley, midfielder Emily Ogle and defender Madison Pogarch to the supplemental roster. Additionally, forward Hayley Raso will no longer take up an international roster slot, as she has received her green card and midfielders Andressinha and Angela Salem have been added to the active roster and are available for this weekend’s match vs. the Pride. The Thorns also announced that Ifeoma Onumonu and Mallory Weber have been waived. * * * Sky Blue FC announced three players signings this week. On Tuesday, they added defender Gina Lewandowski to the roster pending receipt of her International Transfer Certificate (ITC). She joins the NWSL from Sky Blue from FC Bayern Munich in Germany. On Friday, the club announced that 2019 NWSL College Draft picks Kaylan Marckese and Sabrina Flores have been added to the roster ahead of this weekend’s game vs. the Spirit. Marckese has been offered a supplemental contract and Flores has been offered a National Team replacement contract, the club said.
