CHICAGO (April 13, 2021) – The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that it opened an investigation on Saturday, April 10, 2021 under its anti-discrimination policy following an incident in Houston on Friday, April 9, 2021 involving Sarah Gorden of the Chicago Red Stars and a Houston security official.

The NWSL Anti-Harassment Policy for a Safe Work Environment is part of the league’s ongoing commitment to creating and maintaining a safe and respectful work environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination based on a person’s race, religion, national origin, or any other protected status. The policy also describes in detail the process that the league will follow to investigate complaints. The league will have no additional comments regarding the current investigation prior to its completion and has asked the respective clubs to refrain from commenting further as well.
