The National Women’s Soccer League issued the following news release on Friday:The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that Portland Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for an incident on the field following Portland’s match against the North Carolina Courage on March 24. The NWSL Disciplinary Committee has determined that Parsons committed misconduct in his interactions with the officials in violation of Section 11.3.6, “Major Game Misconduct”, as well as Section 11.3.3, “Coach/Staff Misbehavior” of the League Operations Manual. In addition to the automatic one-game suspension for the dismissal by the Official, Parsons was further assessed an additional one-game suspension and fine. The Portland Thorns FC are currently appealing the decision of the Disciplinary Committee to the League office. Parsons will serve the suspensions in the Thorns FC’s next two matches on March 31 vs. Chicago Red Stars and April 15 vs. Orlando Pride.
