Week 6 was perhaps the most action-packed weekend of the season, with dramatic comeback winners, rookie breakthroughs, milestone moments, and lots and lots of goals. It’ll be a hard one to top, but Week 7 is up to the task, with teams like the North Carolina Courage and Orlando Pride riding the highs of overcoming all odds and teams like the Kansas City Current and Washington Spirit eyeing redemption. Another storyline to watch: Lynn Biyendolo is on the cusp of setting a new career regular season assist record and goalscorer #500 could score this weekend. Here’s what to expect across the weekend!

Friday May 2
Houston Dash vs. Racing Louisville FC - 8:00 PM ET
How to watch: NWSL+
Houston returns home after Delanie Sheehan’s clutch game-winner and Jane Campbell’s 40th career shutout kept Utah at bay in Week 6. The Dash’s defense has been an underrated feature in their game this season, leading the league in interceptions, but their attack has generated the lowest amount of shots. Meanwhile, Louisville enters with momentum after a historic first-half goal spree in Portland, where Savannah DeMelo, Kayla Fischer, and Emma Sears all found the net. This will be a battle of midfield control and momentum, with Houston looking to build on its stingy backline and Louisville aiming to carry over their scoring surge.
Washington Spirit vs. Angel City FC - 8:00 PM ET
How to watch: Prime Video
Friday night, the Spirit are home and ready to look forward after conceding three first-half goals to Gotham in Week 6, the most they’ve allowed in a first half since 2022. Ashley Hatch remains lethal, sitting near the top of the Golden Boot race, and with the return of 2024 NWSL Rookie and Midfielder of the Year Croix Bethune back from injury, the Spirit are going to be a serious problem for defenders this season. Angel City, on the other hand, saw a 2-0 lead vanish in Orlando last weekend, but rookie standout Riley Tiernan—the leading rookie goal scorer—and Alyssa Thompson are serious threats to consider. With both sides eyeing redemption, this Friday night matchup could turn fiery.
Seattle Reign FC vs. Kansas City Current - 10:30 PM ET
How to watch: Paramount+, Golazo, & NWSL+
Kansas City’s league-record win streak ended in stunning fashion last week, with the Current conceding twice after the 90th minute in North Carolina. Still top of the table, KC boasts the league’s most dangerous attack and a clinical playmaker, Vanessa DiBernardo, who at 30 career regular season assists is just behind Seattle’s Lynn Biyendolo in the assist leader table (31). Seattle, meanwhile, continues to grind out points, earning their first-ever result against Bay FC last weekend and celebrating Lauren Barnes’ 20,000th NWSL minute — an all-time league first. It’s a high-stakes clash between two ambitious clubs and the league’s two winningest coaches, Laura Harvey and Vlatko Andonovski.
Saturday, May 3
Portland Thorns FC vs. Orlando Pride - 7:30 PM ET
How to watch: ION
Portland’s attack is suddenly clicking, with four different players scoring in their midweek win over Gotham, and then another three scoring in their Sunday matchup. Rookies Jayden Perry and Caiya Hanks made the most of their chances last Tuesday, while Deyna Castellanos, Mimi Alidou, and Jessie Fleming each opened their club scoring accounts (and league, in the case of the Canadians, Alidou and Fleming). But the Thorns will face a surging Orlando side that pulled off its first-ever comeback from a 2-0 deficit to win last weekend. Marta and Barbra Banda continue to drive the Pride forward, with Marta one assist away from a career milestone 40 career regular season goals and 20 assists. This one pits Portland’s youthful fire against Orlando’s veteran flair, with an added storyline being that Portland was the team that ended their perfect season in 2024.
Utah Royals FC vs. North Carolina Courage - 10:00 PM ET
How to watch: ION
Still smarting from a late loss last weekend, this Saturday night, the Royals welcome a red-hot North Carolina squad that shocked everyone with a 90th-minute comeback against league titans, the KC Current. Ally Sentnor and Claudia Zornoza continue to carry the creative load for Utah, while the Courage saw Ryan Williams, Ashley Sanchez, and Kaleigh Kurtz get on the scoresheet last weekend. They have a large cast of players who are just looking for the perfect game to unlock, most notably Jaedyn Shaw, who has yet to open her Courage score sheet but as always is a dangerous player to leave open. Add Kurtz’s Ironwoman streak and this one is shaping up to be an interesting match to watch. Utah will need another big night from Mandy McGlynn in goal to stop a Courage side finally finding rhythm.
Sunday, May 4
Gotham FC vs. Chicago Stars FC - 1:00 PM ET
How to watch: CBS & Paramount+
Tune in on CBS this Sunday for some NWSL After Brunch as Gotham FC returns home to face the Chicago Stars. The home team is riding a goal-scoring tear from Golden Boot leader Esther González, who now has 7 goals in 4 matches and is tied with Sam Kerr for the club record in consecutive multigoal games (4). Another player to watch: Sarah Schupansky is having a breakout rookie campaign, leading the rookies in assists (2) and fresh off scoring her first professional goal last weekend against the Spirit. Chicago’s attack has been inconsistent, but Ludmila and Jameese Joseph are always threats. Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher is a shutout away from 50 career shutouts, only ever achieved by one other NWSL goalkeeper (Nicole Barnhart). It's the perfect way to start off your Sunday with another fun matchup slated for later in the evening!
San Diego Wave FC vs. Bay FC - 8:00 PM ET
How to watch: Paramount+, Golazo, & NWSL+
San Diego’s trio of 17-year-old starters—Kimmi Ascanio, Melanie Barcenas, and Trinity Armstrong—made headlines in Week 6. With Ascanio making the scoresheet and Armstrong assisting the opening goal, the Wave are looking like the future and the present. Kailen Sheridan’s first clean sheet of the season and Cascarino’s assist-leading form power a Wave squad that’s firing on all cylinders and looking absolutely dangerous. Bay FC, meanwhile, continues to grind. Racheal Kundananji and Kiki Pickett remain their most dynamic threats, while rookie Ironwoman Taylor Huff quietly controls the midfield and leads the league in corners. Sunday marks a regular season return to San Diego for Bay FC captain Abby Dahlkemper, whose calm leadership will be key in anchoring a backline facing a red-hot Wave attack. With one team on a scoring surge and the other looking to replicate their 2024 success, this West Coast clash is the perfect way to close out the weekend.
