The Brazilian midfielder’s strike came in the 53rd minute, Houston’s second goal of the match and the eventual game-winner. Forward Rachel Daly passed the ball to Andressinha, open at the top of the 18. She struck it one-time, chipping it with her right foot and sending it just out over the fingertips of Spirit goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé. Her effort was nominated for the Week 13 NWSL Goal of the Week. She had 72 total touches — second-best on the team — as well as three total shots and two chances created, according to Opta. Andressinha, who was recently named to Brazil’s roster for the upcoming Tournament of Nations, is the second Dash player to win the award this season, joining fellow Brazilian Poliana, who won the award in Week 10. She’s the third-youngest NWSL Player of the Week winner ever and the first player born after 1995 to be honored. The Dash have not lost since Week 8 and are 3-0-2 over their five game unbeaten streak. She is the sixth Dash player to ever win Player of the Week, joining Poliana, Daly, Kealia Ohai, Chioma Ubogagu and Bianca Henninger. The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
