Chicago Red Stars forward Sam Kerr has been voted NWSL Player of the Week for Week 22 of the 2018 season by the NWSL Media Association.Kerr scored a brace and chipped in an assist to earn the Red Stars three points with a 3-1 win over the Orlando Pride in Week 22. Kerr scored her 13th and 14th goal of the season and now leads the Golden Boot race. The win kept the Red Stars playoff hopes alive and moved them to fourth place in the league standings with an 8-4-10 overall record and 34 points. It is the seventh time Kerr has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Week and the second time this season. Kerr scored her 13th goal of the season in the 44th minute, breaking down the Pride’s backline and then slipping one into the far post past Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris for the 1-0 lead. Kerr’s league-leading 14th goal came in the 59th minute when she stole the ball from Pride defender Alanna Kennedy. After stripping Kennedy, Kerr went on to beat Harris near post for the 3-0 lead. Kerr finished the game with 10 shots (five on target) and four key passes. Kerr has two more games left in the regular season to secure the Golden Boot nod for the second-straight season. This was also the fourth multi-goal performance for her.
