The Thorns forward scored a goal and earned an assist in August
NEW YORK (September 4, 2025) - The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Portland Thorns Forward Pietra Tordin has been named Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, for the month of August by the NWSL Media Association and the league’s on-air broadcast talent.
In her first season, Tordin has scored four goals for the Thorns and is one goal shy of tying the club scoring record for rookies. She scored a goal against Seattle, making her mark on the already storied Cascadia Rivalry. Tordin also earned an assist.
She’s played in all but one match for the Thorns this season and is carving a place for herself in the lineup, having made two of her four career starts in August.
Ally, a financial services company with the nation’s largest all-digital bank and a leading brand in women’s sports, is also a primary sponsor of the NWSL and the official retail banking partner of the NWSLPA.
The NWSL Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league consistently, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of August are based off performances during the regular season matches.
