The Game
-
While the rest of the league remains off for the international break, Sky Blue FC and the Washington Spirit will face off this Friday night. Both teams enter this game after failing to pick up any points in Week 10, after Sky Blue suffered a late defeat to Utah Royals FC on Saturday night and the Washington Spirit lost 2-0 to the Chicago Red Stars after a lengthy weather delay.
-
Sky Blue FC remains in pursuit of their first win of the season, second only to the 2013 Seattle Reign for the longest winless start to a season (11 games) and tied with the 2013 Reign for the fewest points heading into game 10 (1 point). Sky Blue’s only draw of the season — and the last time the team earned points in a game — came in a 1-1 result against the Chicago Red Stars in Week 4.
-
Washington Spirit forward Francisca Ordega is currently fourth in the league for scoring, with four goals on the season, however she is out for the Spirit this week on international duty for Nigeria.

Sky Blue recently signed Duke alum Imani Dorsey as a national team replacement player and on Thursday the team announced another national team replacement player in the signing of defender Cassidy Benintente.
-
This week, Washington Spirit midfielder Rose Lavelle was added to the U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the team’s upcoming friendlies. Lavelle has struggled with injuries and game fitness for much of the past year, but has played in the Spirit’s last three games.

Spirit midfielder Rebecca Quinn will miss this Friday’s game due to international duty. Quinn was recently called up to the Canada Women’s National Team ahead of their June 10 friendly against Germany.
-
The Washington Spirit have signed Maddie Huster as a national team replacement player, the team announced on Tuesday. Huster, a third round pick by the Spirit in the 2018 NWSL College Draft, joins the team after playing at Wake Forest University and the Spirit reserves. She is the younger sister of Spirit midfielder Tori Huster, setting up the pair to be the first sister duo in NWSL history to take the field for the same team.
-
Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe has 50 saves on the season, putting her in the league lead for saves. Sky Blue goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan is tied in fourth in the league for saves this season, with 31.
