De Vanna’s initial effort was saved by Brazil goalkeeper Daniele Neuhaus, but De Vanna cleaned up the rebound to make it 1-1. The Matildas never looked back after that. Her next assist came just two minutes later as she drew out the goalkeeper before laying it off to De Vanna, who knocked it into the wide open net for her second goal of the game. Following two more Australia goals — from Foord and Katrina Goory — Kerr’s goal was the final score of the game for the Matildas. In the 68th minute, Kerr controlled a high cross into the box with her chest, maintained possession between two defenders, before slotting it home for her fourth goal of the tournament. Kerr tallied a hat trick on Sunday in the 4-2 win vs. Japan. The NWSL’s all-time leading scorer, with 37 career goals, has scored 11 — second in the league — so far this season and added three assists. In three games at the Tournament of Nations, she scored four goals and two assists. Australia won all three of its games in the tournament, beating the United States 1-0, then Japan 4-2, before the big win over Brazil to close out the tournament.
