San Diego Wave sign Brazilian forward Dudinha through 2027

The Brazilian Invasion of the NWSL continues – this time, in San Diego.

The Wave announced July 24 the signing of forward Maria Eduarda Rodrigues Silva, also known as Dudinha. Pending a visa, Dudinha will be with the Wave through the 2027 season.

The signing – a transfer from São Paulo FC Women – marks the first Brazilian player to sign with San Diego.

“At just 20 years old, Dudinha already brings meaningful experience at both the professional and international levels,” said San Diego Wave FC Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton. “She’s a dynamic and technical forward who’s made an impact in Brazil’s top league and with the national team. We’re proud to welcome her as the first Brazilian signing in Wave FC history and believe she has the talent to be a key contributor for our Club.”

Before making the move to the NWSL, Dudinha was a key part of São Paulo FC Women’s success. In 65 appearances across all competitions, she scored 14 goals and was part of the 2025 Supercopa Feminina winning team.

She started representing her country in 2022 as part of Brazil’s U17 team. In 10 appearances, she scored five goals. Dudinha then played with the U20 team, leading the squad as a captain to a South American U20 Championship win.

Dudinha earned her first senior cap earlier this year and is representing during the 2025 Copa América Femenina.

A San Diego team that has already shocked NWSL fans just got a bit more dangerous in the back half of the season.
