Two second half penalty kicks, one for each side, were the only goals in a 1-1 draw between Sky Blue FC and Seattle Reign FC Saturday night at Memorial Stadium in Seattle. Sky Blue FC had the better of play in the first half, but Reign goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer, who made eight saves in the match, came up big on several plays. In the 55th minute, Reign midfielder Megan Rapinoe was brought down in the box by Erica Skroski. She converted the penalty past Sky Blue FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan. Seven minutes later, Sky Blue forward Kelley O’Hara was fouled in the box by Merritt Mathias. Sarah Killion took the penalty kick and tied up the game. Sky Blue FC pushed for the winner late, but Kopmeyer was once again up to the task, stopping chances in the 88th and 91st minutes. Reign defender Merritt Mathias had a chance for a game-winner for Seattle in the 90th minute, but her header went over the bar. The game also marked the return to Seattle for Christine Nairn, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Washington Spirit. Nairn was drafted and played for the Reign in 2013, before spending the last three seasons with the Spirit.
