70+ NWSL Players Report for International Duty During the October FIFA Window

All 14 clubs will have representation across 28 different countries

NEW YORK (October 21, 2024) - More than 70 NWSL stars across all 14 clubs will represent their respective countries on the global stage during the October FIFA window beginning on Monday, October 21 and running through Wednesday, October 30. Many teams will play friendlies while several European teams will be participating in UEFA qualifying to determine the final seven teams for next summer’s EURO in Switzerland.

The U.S. Women’s National Team leads the way with 22 NWSL players from 12 clubs taking on Iceland and Argentina in friendly matches. This window marks the most NWSL clubs represented on the USWNT in a single call-up.

This representation comes on the heels of a record 61 NWSL players who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics accounting for nearly one quarter of the Olympic player pool. Twenty-two players return to international duty in October after appearing on medal-winning teams at the 2024 Olympics, including 15 NWSL stars on the gold medal-winning USWNT, five from silver-winning Brazil, and two from the German national team who returned with a bronze medal.

Every club will be rooting for at least one player during the window. San Diego Wave FC leads the way in representation with nine players rostered for their countries during the FIFA window. NJ/NY Gotham FC and the Portland Thorns are each sending a total of eight players on international duty.

The USWNT is set to bring in six uncapped players, including three first-time call-ups in Gotham FC midfielder Yazmeen Ryan, Racing Louisville FC forward Emma Sears and Bay FC forward Alyssa Malonson.

An additional five NWSL players are currently at the Under-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic with four rising stars playing for the United States Youth Women's National Team and Angel City FC forward Casey Phair rostered for South Korea.
