**Washington, D.C. – **The Washington Spirit returned to winning ways as they walked away from Thursday night’s match 1-0 victors over Racing Louisville FC. There were few chances on each side during the first half of play. Emina Ekic nearly found her first NWSL goal after dancing through the Washington backline, but Aubrey Bledsoe was equal to the challenge. The half ended in a stalemate. The second half started with a flurry of chances, but both keepers, Bledsoe and Michelle Betos of Racing Louisville, were equal to the task. Trinity Rodman was electric late but could not find a breakthrough to put Washington on top. That was until the 90th minute, Tori Huster turned a defender and played the ball in. Rodman found herself on the end line and crossed to Ashley Sanchez who found the net at the expense of a sprawling Betos and sealed the three points for the Spirit. Racing Louisville (0-1-1) returns to action on April 26th when they return home to take on the North Carolina Courage (1-0-0). Washington Spirit (1-1-0) will follow on April 27th as they host NJ/NY Gotham FC (1-0-0) at Audi Field. Both matches will air on Paramount + with subsequent streams on Twitch for international viewers.
