Not many people can understand what Savy King went through when she collapsed on the pitch last season due to a cardiac incident.
But Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin can.
The two unlikely friends – and now heart health advocates – finally met on Radio Row during the festivities leading up to Super Bowl LX, a moment both athletes won’t soon forget. Appearing together with the American Heart Association, King and Hamlin spoke about their experiences and how they’ve turned their near-tragedies into a mission to save more lives.
Earlier this year, King established her own foundation, King of Hearts, to advocate, educate, and prevent others from going through similar medical emergencies. Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation started when he was in college, but after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Monday Night Football game, the organization launched a CPR tour to equip and educate people in the lifesaving measure.
The meet up we’ve all been waiting for was well worth the wait.
