In her 100th cap with the US Women’s National team, Mallory Swanson delivered the breakthrough goal in the 57th minute of play. It was her 4th goal of the tournament and tied for the second most among all players in the competition.

Alyssa Naeher continued to have an incredible Olympics as she became the first goalkeeper in women’s soccer history with a shutout in a World Cup and Olympic final.

The NWSL was well represented in the final match between the two squads with 27 players of the 44 rostered for the match (inclusive of alternates), was the most of any league in any women’s soccer gold medal game. This also included 12 players starting in the final between the US (8) and Brazil (4).
