The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Washington Spirit forward Ashley Hatch has been named the Player of the Month for the month of July by the NWSL Media Association.

CHICAGO (August 6, 2021) - The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Washington Spirit forward Ashley Hatch has been named the Player of the Month for the month of July by the NWSL Media Association.

In a productive month for Hatch, the forward notched three goals throughout July, helping her team to a pair of 2-0 results. She also garnered several offensive chances for the Spirit, registering 10 shots in four matches. Highlighting Hatch’s stellar month of play, the 26-year-old picked up a brace in the Spirit’s 2-0 win over North Carolina on July 10, marking the first multi-goal effort of her career. The Gilbert, Arizona native went on to earn her third tally of the month when she opened the scoring in the Spirit’s 2-0 shutout against Racing Louisville FC on July 25. Thanks to the score, Hatch is now tied for the league lead in goals scored this season with six tallies alongside Orlando Pride forward Sydney Leroux. Washington Spirit midfielder Andi Sullivan finished second in voting with two assists, while Leroux finished third after registering a pair of goals and 17 shots. The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
