Crystal Elaine Thomas of the Washington Spirit has been voted NWSL Player of the Week for Week 20 of the 2019 season by the NWSL Media Association. The forward played all 90 minutes in the match against Orlando Pride, ending with a goal and an assist.Thomas assisted teammate Ashley Hatch with the first goal of the game in the fifth minute. She also scored the second goal of the match, putting the Washington Spirit up 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Orlando midfielder Joanna Boyles tried to pass the ball back but ended up giving the ball away to Washington forward Tiffany McCarty. As McCarty turned to face the goal, defender Morgan Reid was able to stretch her leg to get the ball away from McCarty, but Thomas was able to pick up the ball as she was running into the right side of the box. She dribbled in and megged Orlando goalkeeper Lainey Burdett for the goal. Thomas had a total of three shots during the match, with two being on target. Her passing accuracy was 70.4% during the match, with a total of 53 touches. The Washington Spirit now have a two-game win streak, with one match left in the regular season. Their final match will be on Saturday, October 12, against Portland Thorns FC.
