Kansas City Current vs. Chicago Stars – 8:00 PM ET

How to watch: Prime Video

Kansas City lifted their first-ever trophy last weekend and now, the newly crowned NWSL Shield winners look to keep building momentum into the playoffs. The Current have been ruthless on all ends, with Temwa Chawinga tied for the Golden Boot lead, Debinha pulling strings in midfield, and goalkeeper Lorena leading a defense that has conceded just 10 goals all year. For Chicago, it’s a must-win: anything less than three points eliminates them from playoff contention. Ludmila remains red-hot in attack, while Alyssa Naeher continues her steady march toward 700 career saves. This is the ultimate test for the Stars against the league’s best.

Gotham FC vs. Portland Thorns – 8:00 PM ET

How to watch: NWSL+

A 2024 NWSL Quarterfinal playoff rematch loaded with firepower. Esther González is second in the Golden Boot race with 13 goals, while Rose Lavelle and Jaedyn Shaw have Gotham’s midfield humming. Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger is on the verge of a single-season clean sheet record, making this Gotham side one of the most balanced in the league. Portland counters with Olivia Moultrie, who just became the league’s top teenage scorer, and Reyna Reyes’s penchant for clutch goals (all three of her goals this season have grabbed the Thorns points). Both sides thrive in big moments, making this one of the weekend’s must-watch showdowns.

San Diego Wave vs. Orlando Pride – 10:30 PM ET

How to watch: Paramount+ & NWSL+

The Wave have been in a bit of a slump lately, tying last weekend and the three games before going scoreless, but the talent is there to turn it around. Delphine Cascarino and Perle Morroni bring energy from the wings, Kenza Dali adds creativity, and Kimmi Ascanio’s speed stretches defenses. Orlando, meanwhile, is searching for answers during a winless streak extending to before the summer, though they still boast match-winners in Marta, Ally Watt, and midseason addition Jacquie Ovalle, who picked up her first assist a few weeks ago. Both teams need a spark—this one could hinge on who puts away their chances.

Saturday, September 27

Racing Louisville vs. Angel City – 8:30 PM ET

How to watch: ION

Louisville almost mounted a three-goal comeback last weekend but unfortunately, were just one goal shy, making them one of the most dangerous teams in the league since the summer. Jordyn Bloomer has also been a difference-maker with her penalty-saving heroics and shot-stopping acrobatics. Angel City arrives with a young star of their own. Rookie Riley Tiernan has already set the club’s single-season scoring record, while Sveindís Jónsdóttir is heating up and Gisele Thompson, now tied for most assists with Delphine Cascarino (5), supplies the creativity. Both teams are battling on the playoff bubble, and every point matters in this one.

Bay FC vs. Utah Royals – 11:00 PM ET

How to watch: ION

Two 2024 expansion clubs face off in San Jose, both hoping for much needed points to keep their playoff hopes alive. Bay FC will look to Racheal Kundananji’s speed and Caprice Dydasco’s pinpoint service to spark their attack, while Jordan Silkowitz continues to shine in goal. Utah comes in hot after back-to-back wins, fueled by Paige Monaghan’s scoring streak, Mandy McGlynn’s saves, and the return of Cloé Lacasse. Expect an end-to-end battle between two sides eager to prove themselves in year two.

Sunday, September 28

Washington Spirit vs. Houston Dash – 1:00 PM ET

How to watch: Paramount+ & NWSL+

The Spirit can clinch a playoff berth with a win, and they’ll lean on Trinity Rodman and Croix Bethune to get it done. Aubrey Kingsbury anchors a defense that hasn’t lost at home since May, giving Washington a huge edge. Houston is chasing their own playoff push behind the creativity of Yazmeen Ryan and the reliable shot-stopping of Jane Campbell, who is closing in on 600 career saves. Expect a tense matchup where every mistake could swing the postseason picture.

Seattle Reign vs. North Carolina Courage – 11:00 PM ET

How to watch: Paramount+ & NWSL+

The Reign have been solid at home lately, with Claudia Dickey logging every minute in goal and Jess Fishlock nearing her 200th career start. They also have young talent as well in Emeri Adames and Maddie Dahlien, both of whom haven’t scored in awhile but are a threat regardless. North Carolina, meanwhile, are riding momentum from two straight wins, with Manaka Matsukubo pulling the strings and Shinomi Koyama proving to be a hero when needed. Both teams are in playoff contention but need the points from a win to cement that status.
