Jodie Taylor of Reign FC has been voted NWSL Player of the Week for Week 24 of the 2019 season by the NWSL Media Association. Taylor scored two goals during the week in two important wins, which ultimately clinched a playoff spot for the club.Taylor assisted the opener for Reign FC and then scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win over Utah Royals FC. With the game winding down, the England international connected on a volley after a headed pass from Darian Jenkins. The tally in the 86th minute sealed the home victory and put Reign FC in the driver’s seat for the remaining playoff spot. Taylor then remained in top form during a weekend clash against Cascadia rival Portland Thorns FC. Taylor scored the opening goal in the 2-0 victory over Portland in the 27th minute after receiving a cross from teammate Theresa Nielsen from the far-right side of the field. Taylor would control the pass inside the box before firing her shot past Thorns FC goalkeeper Adrianna Franch. With the triumph against Thorns FC, Reign FC officially clinched a spot in the NWSL Playoffs. Reign FC has one last regular season match that will take place on Saturday, October 12, against Orlando Pride to determine their seeding and opposition in the postseason.
