Sky Blue FC defender Christie Pearce is out due to league concussion protocol. According to a team spokesperson, the team saw no indication of it happening during Sky Blue’s Week 2 meeting with Boston. After the game ended, coach Christy Holly and the team’s training staff became concerned and immediately placed her in concussion protocol as a precaution. FC Kansas City forward Shea Groom, who took a big hit in the second half vs. the Chicago Red Stars in Week 2, but played the whole game, is out with a broken rib. Groom suffered the broken rib during the game, according to a team spokesperson. Spirit forward Katie Stengel, who left Washington’s Week 2 meeting with the Pride in the 19th minute, is out with a right knee bone bruise. Spirit midfielder Kristie Mewis is also listed as out with a left quad strain.
